"Without question one of the finest regimental level Battle of the Bulge games ever produced. Carefully researched and beautifully executed. Highly recommended."

Anyone wondering which Bulge game to buy, do not hesitate any longer. the decision is clear. L2 Bitter Woods is a gamers delight. The game map is eye catching, the rules tight and the game proven. No, it is not detailed as some of the others recently released, but as a compromise between gaming and history it is a winner.

Last, the on-going support and expansions are a real treat. Highly recommended for one and all. Great game for beginners.

Art,
Yesterday I bought DBW and would like to say that this is one of the highest quality games I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Now to play the damn thing! Is the pbem tournament still open?
Regards, Keith

"Ring around the rosey, a pocket full of spears!" - Wicked Witch of the West

FABULOUS GAME! Pleasing to the eye (I, too, don't like 'cluttered' mapboards) and great ease in moving pieces around the board. This is an exceptional product. I can't compare to A44, I haven't seen/played it. Well done and many kudos and thanks to all who were invloved in making his game a reality.

My copy of DBW by L2 arrived yesterday. With one very minor exception, this is the best produced game I have ever seen. The maps, cards, counters and even the big box are perfect...I wouldn't change a thing.

And I know from following the evolution of DBW that the rules and gameplay are flawless as well.

My (very, very minor) pet peeve is the actual rules layout, which is somewhere in the nether regions between DTP and professional. I think a little more crispness and pizazz could go into the page layout and the rules organization.
The board is especially easy on the eyes...can't wait to play.

Well, my double pack of DBW and TRC arrived yesterday. WOW...! Looks like L2 has truck on the right formula. I'm reminded of a previous post about big, dumb games. Just my opinion here but there is no way you can apply this phrase to any of L2's releases to date.
Keep up the good work
Ken

I received the copies of L2 Group's new Deluxe Edition of Bitter Woods for the upcoming Paper Wars special edition on Bulge games. I want to post my very good first impressions.

If you haven't seen this game yet, the production values are simply the best. I had seen the demo and press sheets at Origins but was still very pleasantly surprised. The final version is even stronger than what was on display in Columbus.

The map is very attractive and mounted on a card stock then cut. The entire map is one piece which has been cut and folded to fit the box. Very clever. The counters are awesome, even better than the third edition set Randy Heller produced. The rules and player's booklets are first rate. Finally, the player aid cards, especially the scenario set up cards, are in color. There are color set up maps on the backs of the scenario cards.

This game is an absolute must have. I was so pleased, I purchased the other two L2 games today.

These are just my first impressions after opening the lid.

With these two games the phrase "L2 Production Values" has a quantifiable meaning, namely, the standard by which all others are judged. Eye-popping map graphics, player's handbook, full color setup charts and scenario cards.

As at the WBC, I'm simply amazed at how much difference the change to 5/8 inch counters makes. Everything is so much crisper, even down to the divisional insignia. For some reason it's easier for me to distinguish the 7th Panzer Army colors from the 6th in this edition.

The separate Effects Summary Chart was worth the wait. Larger, bolder symbols and easy-to-read type.

Well done, guys.

DBW has a new "Patton's Relief of Bastogne" scenario where the Americans definitely attack about as much as the Germans. It's a highlight of this newest gorgeous version, which is well worth the price--particularly for we presbyopic gamers! Note that several unit strengths and rules have also been refined/changed in this 4th edition of the game.

I too received my package of BW and RC4 today and all I can say is Holy S#@t, Art! Great work.

Heller and Edwards should be very pleased with this latest treatment of their initial efforts. Kudos to all, and no more complainin'.

I do now look forward to KP2.

Just got my games: DBW and TRC. Beatiful stuff. You did it again. Thanks for your hard work Art, and gang at L2. Really looking forward to playing these rascals. They even fit my table. Yes! Just don't know which to start with. The kind of problem I love to have.
The map "mounting" solution is a good one that more companies should use.

One other honorable mention: I'm not usually one to spend a lot of time worrying about the cover of a game, usually don't care, but Bitterwoods box is one of the coolest I've seen. You guys don't cut corners on play aids either--something that is usually pretty common. Love the color.

Keep up the great work,
Britt Strickland

OMG
That's all that comes to mind...

Never thought I'd come across wargames bigger than my Axis & Allies box. Maybe not in height, but length and width have overlap... and Deluxe Bitter Woods... oh, I love that cover
I hope that guy that said he was missing his 3rd Edition counters will open the shrinkwrap, cause they're inside (Only they won't fit in the old BW box ). Signed and numbered... wow.

Art, you've surpassed all my expectations. I may have to get SOS, if it's half of the quality of these... and rest assured that anything else you decide to put out will be taking a trip to Texas

Thank You L2

HI Art,
Great Games, got them all in the mail today in Austin, Texas. Great job on putting in all the "extra's" and the signed copy, etc...
Also great job on the shipping coupon.

Now if only the e-bay types would handle shipping like you all instead of trying to push their margins by charging "handling".
My thoughts, just charge what you need for the game, I don't care about or need the line item stuff, just give me the total and I will be happy to purchase!!

Art, the cover art on DBW is so neat! Are there copies for sale?
